How to ensure optimal power reserve for your automatic watch?Updated 7 days ago
Your SERICA watch is equipped with a high-precision self-winding mechanical caliber. This system uses your wrist movements to wind the mainspring. To guarantee its proper functioning and the longevity of its performance, here are the essential guidelines to follow:
Influencing factors and accuracy
Several external elements can disturb the regularity of the balance wheel and generate measurement discrepancies:
- Shocks: Whether direct or indirect (intense vibrations, impact sports), they can affect the delicate components of the movement.
- Magnetism: Exposure to significant magnetic fields (smartphones, speakers, security gates) is the #1 cause of a movement suddenly gaining excessive time.
- Temperatures: Sudden changes in temperature can influence oil viscosity and expand certain components.
Handling and safety guidelines
To preserve the integrity of your mechanism, please strictly observe the following instructions:
- Manual winding: If your watch has stopped, unscrew the crown and perform about 30 manual turns to restart the spring with the necessary torque before putting it back on your wrist.
- Water resistance: Never manipulate the crown (winding or time setting) when the watch is submerged or in contact with water. Ensure the crown is perfectly screwed back down before any immersion.
- Screwing the crown: When screwing it back in, do not exert excessive force. If you feel unusual resistance, unscrew slightly to realign the threads and screw back in gently.
